Text 29 Jan iPad vs. Kindle…round 1

First of all, let me be the first to admit that the iPad is not perfect. To begin with, it’s a goofy name. I mean, come on…it’s <insert assorted overused internet joke here>. Haha! That’s just funny!

I also admit that it’s just an overgrown iPhone. But having used an iPhone for over a year, in my opinion, this may not be a bad thing. I use my iPhone for pretty much everything…from e-mail, calendar, games, facebook, twitter, e-book reader, etc. If the iPad does HALF those things as well as the iPhone, it’s a winner in my book.

Will the iPad be a netbook replacement? Maybe not. It’s going to be really funky typing on that virtual keyboard. But does it have e-reader companies like Amazon and B&N scared? YOU BETCHA!

I say this as a consumer who just wants to read a book sans the tree killing…do I spend $369 to read e-book…or do I spend $499 to read an e-book, check my e-mail, go in facebook, do my taxes, etc? (ok, the taxes might be an exaggeration, but you get my drift)

I think that if for a little more money I get a hell of a lot more functionality, it’s a no brainer. Will I get the best tablet in the planet for that money? No…but you’ll get a damn fine gadget to add to your arsenal.
